Spud, our family Corgi died of cancer this month. Sadly the vet says more and more pets, in particular, dogs are dying of cancer. Spud was my personal dog that actually was owned by my company.

How's that you ask? Well before I retired I owned a computer business, I would extend credit on computer purchases and one of my clients husband was injured on the job and could not pay their bill. She mentioned she bread Corgi's and that they were really special, in fact at that time they were little known in the northwest. So to make a long story short I offered to trade out as long as I got pick of the litter.

Deal done! He came home with me on a weekday and I hand fed Spud and he slept with us for two weeks because I felt he had been weaned way to early from his mommy. So the bond began, a boy and his dog. Only I was a man with a boys heart and fell in love with Spud.

He was taken to work every day and become the Computer Cache Customer Greeter. He posed for one of our ads, (see the picture above).

When I moved my business into offices Spud was retired to a large backyard. He hated me for a month for not taking him to work with me. When I became ill and retired Spud and my youngest son spent many a day loving me and waiting on me. Nolan my son did the waiting on me and Spud did the lovin'! I would have been far more miserable without both of them.

The last six months of Spuds life was a miserable time for him. He hurt daily and he had surgery to remove the tumor from his chest. In less than a month the tumor cam back bigger and more painful. Poor Spud could hardly get around.

His last visit was so heart rendering that I could not keep my composure. Thank God for the caring Vet and her staff who helped Spud and me through this terrible nightmare. Spud is now at peace and I hope he's in his place, I hope he waits for me so we can go for another ride in the pickup, this time not stopping at the Vets.

Goodbye SPUD

Spud likes to relax after a long patrol on the outer parameters. Spud's specialty is seek and chase the alien scourge.
Spud is watching out for the alien scourge that occupies the house. They even have names. Jet and Citron. Spud knows they are crazy and watches carefully for them and their evil schemes. After all they could be behind each and every door ready to pounce on his unsuspecting body!
This is Jet - Spud likes him but he is just to fast for Spud's short little legs to keep up with.

This is D.O.G. Spud's Human Trudy is Holding her.

D.O.G. associates with human Nathan
She is staying with us as does Nathan. D.O.G. is a pitbull,  She loves Nathan and is always pulling him around on her skateboard!
Human Nathan

Corgi's love to entertain their humans. They are four legged clowns with a
big dog attitude. He will play "pull
the pant leg" or "stand between
your legs" and "grab the sock and pull
it to shreds" game just for attention.  Corgi's become family members
readily and are willing to work
for a living. Spud did this for the
first 21 dog years of his life. He
was the top greeter and sales dog
at the Computer Cache Company.

He retired to his "Big Yard" mansion
in the year 2001. With a ranch
style two bedroom dog house Spud
is happy to head up the border
patrol and enforce the illegal alien
scourge, Cats

Spud's real name is Pig Butt Spud. This is due to his laying on his belly with his legs spread out behind him, it looks like a pig's butt. Spud is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. They are herding dogs. The natural instinct of this dog is to herd you around, and he does.

He likes to pose by laying on his back and giving his happy smile. Most Corgi's love to lay on their back, of course Spud likes to improve the Corgi image in anyway he can!
Spuds just kicking back this winter and enjoying his retirement along with his human "Doug". Spud is teaching "Doug" to learn to relax and sleep on the carpet and to keep off the furniture when his Human "Trudy" comes home. Spud has made Doug the human feel good, Spud is one special dude!

This is Citron, Spud thinks Citron is as dumb as a post, but at least a post has functionality. Citron just lays around and looks pretty and tries to steal Spuds food.

Jet and Spud play together in the house and back yard, Spud say Jets the "Devil Cat" and must be chased to assure the safety of all doggiedom. After all Spud is a dog!

Spuds Tips

FAQ's

Question: My human has decided to have a cat live in my domain, what should I do?

Answer: If it is a kitten then break it in quickly, herd it away from your bed, food and any object you consider yours, but remember, kind nudges are appropriate. If it's and adult cat, show the scourge some Corgi Kick Ass, herd it to the nearest corner and keep the scumbag there! Just remember, you may need the cat to blame for an accident that you may have created, so do not show open hostility!

Question: Why should I tolerate other dogs?
Answer: A true Corgi takes pride in being a dog of decorum and class, after all we are from a royal class and True Scotsman. We were steeds for the Fairies, we still have the saddle marks to prove it! So allow the intrusion and just ask for your space.
