To
your left, a life size bust of John Oberdorf. I
studied John for three months and gave a very close representation of himself. I chose
imitation black marble speckled with white to accentuate and differentiate
my work.
John traveled with me for 13 years until his statue was stolen out of
my home in 1984.

Meet Elxzi in 1974 with another "Marquette" This photo was taken by Jerry Wilken who is a highly regarded Photographer in the state of Oregon. Jerry graciously has taken many photo's of my earlier works as an artist. The art next to me is a ceramic piece that I hand built and fired. I painted it with acrylic paint rather than use ceramic glaze due to the acrylic paints ability to create a true basic - primary color without the shiny glaze or translucent effect of glazes.

The Steatite Stone Sculpture on the right, title "Aboriginal Man" was Photographed by Jerry Wilken. This piece was two feet tall. Weight was close to 45 pounds. Sold to a lady from Denmark. She was visiting a friend from Minnesota and came out to Portland, Oregon to go to the coast and ran into me at the Portland Saturday Market in 1981. I got a letter from her telling me she carried it onto the plane knowing it would be crushed rock if she put it in her luggage. Try carrying something like this on a trans-continental flight now days! |
